Jane Menefee Overall

November 1, 1929 - December 10, 2023

Janie, of Fullerton, California, was born in Los Angeles to Mary Jane and Ardinger Menefee, graduating from South Pasadena High School in 1947. She met her husband, Thomas 'Coop' Overall at a family wedding in Kansas City, Missouri, where he grew up and where the two families had been friends for decades. Coop and Janie married in San Marino in 1950, immediately moving to Kansas City, where they had three boys (Rick, Jim, and Tom) over the next five years.

The family moved to San Antonio, Texas and subsequently to the Los Angeles area as part of Coop's career in food sales. While in Placentia, California, they had their daughter Nancy, then moved to Cherry Hill, New Jersey in 1967 and back to Placentia in 1974. Four years after Coop's passing in 2008, Janie moved to Morningside of Fullerton for her remaining years.

Service to others was very important to Janie. She was in Junior League and a hospital candy striper in Kansas City; helped build Little League fields from vacant lots in San Antonio; was a Boy Scout Troop mom in South Pasadena and Cherry Hill; and was always involved in her kid's schools as a room mother. Even more notably, she served for nearly 50 years at both Placentia/Linda Community Hospital and the Placentia Round Table Women's Club, performing a variety of leadership roles. In recognition of her service, she was nominated for the Placentia Citizen of the Year Award in 1981.

Living at Morningside was a huge highlight in Janie's life, where she enjoyed dear friends, spirited card games, dinners, and many other activities. An exceedingly humble person, Janie lit up the room with her fun and positive attitude. She attributed her long life and health to simply not worrying about things too much and loved her family dearly.

Janie is survived by sons Richard of Fountain Valley, James and wife Donna of Simi Valley; Thomas Jr of Long Beach; Nancy Hambacher and husband John of La Jolla; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
