In Memory

Carroll E Edwards

Carroll 'Ed' Edwards, Jr, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2022, at Vista Rosa, the assisted living residence located in San Luis Obispo - he was 95 years old. Ed was born on May 18, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to Helen MacFarlane and Carroll Edwards. Although he grew up in the mid-west, some of his fondest memories as a youth were vacations spent in Ocean City, New Jersey where he developed a lifelong love of the sun, beach, and outdoor activities.

After a stint in the Army Air Corps and graduation from the University of Delaware, he moved west with his then wife, Barbara, and settled in Pasadena. Ed spent 32 years working as a teacher and coach at South Pasadena Junior High School. To most, he was simply known as Coach Edwards - a moniker he truly relished. Ed discovered snow skiing on the west coast and spent as much time as he could at Mammoth Mountain. He was so passionate about the sport that he built a vacation home there in 1965, and continued to ski into his 80s. Upon his retirement in 1985, Ed moved to a home he had built in Morro Bay and enjoyed a full and fun retirement - trips and cruises with friends, volunteering at Hearst Castle and Avila Beach Golf Course, and his daily run on the beach kept him active and engaged. He was fortunate to have great neighbors and friends that he met in Morro Bay, especially JoAn Roper, with whom he found love later in is life.

Ed is survived by his two sons Gary (Naomi) and Greg; grandson Jacob, brother, Jim (Bobbie) and nephew
Craig and niece Amy (Mike).
