I spent 25 years as a reporter and editor at the San Jose Mercury News. Took a buyout in March '08. At the time I was a vice president and the editorial page editor.

After that I was corporate communications director for one of the county's leading solar companies. But a couple of bad quarters led to my position being eliminated (and me getting laid off) in April '09.

I then spent 7 years as a senior vice president at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, a public-policy non-profit that had 350 tech company members.

Jogging, hiking, reading, movies, gardening and grilling.

Al Brockus keeps me stocked with good tunes. And I let my daughter load my iPod so I stay more current. My iPod has everything from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., to Sonata Arctica to Jimi Hendrix to Black Eyed Peas.
