I am currently Deputy Director of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, US Department of Transportation. My federal career started in 1977 at the National Transportation Policy Study Commission, and I have served various parts of the Department of Transportation since 1979. I have a BA in geography from Cal State LA (1972) and a PhD in geography from the Johns Hopkins University (1978).
