Tom Tucker - Class Of 1967

Tom Tucker

Thomas M Tucker (June 29, 1949 - January 24, 2014), born in Pasadena, California to Margie and Martin Tucker. He grew up in South Pasadena, attended Pasadena City College and Cal State LA, majoring in social work and math. In 1972 Tom began employment with Los Angeles County Department of Health Services at Harbor General Hospital (later Harbor/UCLA Medical Center).

Tom's passing was sudden. He was in remission from lung cancer, but due to poor health he was unable to receive the recommended brain radiation and the cancer spread to his brain. Tom loved watching most sports, old time rock n' roll "geezer" concerts, bike rides on the Strand, vacations in Morro Bay and the Clippers. He is survived by his mom, Margie Tucker; wife Mary; and sons, Chris, Alex, and Nick. The family is indebted to all his co-workers at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center for their kindness, support, prayers, and major help with his emergency retirement and recognition of his 40+ years of service. A special thanks to our friends, neighbors and co-workers for hugs, help, prayers and food.

Tommy and I grew up together living a street apart...he on Indiana, me on Palm Ave.  We used to play football in the streets in front of our houses only to be interrupted by passing traffic.

Our mothers were Den Mothers in our Cub Scout pack. Many Cub Scout field trips were taken in the back of the Tucker's Ford stationwagon.

He was a good friend and wished I had stayed in touch with him.

Rest In Peace, Tommy.

Kenny
