Rick and i became friends in high school. Our common interest was drag racing. We called each otther "Race".
Rick had a 1953 Yellow Chevy gasser. He raced it at the old Irwindale drag strip. It wasn't the fastest car, but he had lots of fun building it.
Rick also drove a 1956 Chevy panel truck that he bought from Piwonka Bros. Glass on South Pasadena. We called it Rick's trick truck. The colunm shifter arm came off but it didn't deter him from using the remaining 3 inch arm to shift with. I remember riding in the back of it coming down from Big Bear to Lucerne Valley in a lawn chair holding for dear life. Talk about a wild ride.
Rick's life changed that fateful day when he had his head trauma. Never to speak again, he lived the rest of his life in a care facility.
I fortunate to see him at our class of 1967 50th reunion.
Rest in peace "Race".
It is with an extremely heavy heart that I announce the passing of Barbara Stowe my beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, & soon to be grandma. She went to be with the Lord tonight peacefully October 30, 2020 at 10:37pm with her family by her side.

Wonderful memories of Stan, David. Sorry I wasn't part of your bike cruise to the junior high. I always walked.. I don't know why I wasn't smart enough to ride my bike.
Bill, like his Dad, were die hard Ohio State\Woody hayes football fanatics. We (my mom and dad)used to kid him about it Both senior and junior were nice people. I miss both of them.

I knew Phil in his latter years. He lived here in Arcadia and raced his 57 Chevies at the original Irwidale dragstrip. He was a nice man and was sorry to see that he passed away at what I believe was a young age.
I often think of my childhood friend since he passed in 1995. Randy and I grew up together dating back to nursery school where our mothers first met. We often played at each others houses. The Phair's had a player piano in their downstairs playroom. We had great times pushing the pedals and singing "On The Sunny Side of the Street." They also had a cabin at Lake Arrowhead---appropriatly named "The Phair's Leaning Lair".'. Riding in their boat on the lake was a real treat. Other times were spent at the arcade in Lake Arrowhead village. Good times they were. We sort of drifted apart in high school, when Randy participated in varsity football, basketball, baseball. I was not athleticaly inclined like him.
I last talked with "Herbie", his childhood nickname, just after my mother passed away in 1990. I only wished we had spent more post SPHS time together. Maybe we would be social media buds on facebook or twitter if he were alive today.
R.I.P. "Herbie".
Chuck was a good friend both at school and in Boy Souts. He was part of the contingent of scouts from South Pasadena that attended the National Jamboree at Valley Forge in 1964.
He was also my fathers back doctor at Risser. My dad was his scoutmaster at both troop 369 and the troop that went to Valley Forge. He dearly loved Chuck, and the treatment that he gave him.
