Friday night on a dollar!

1971~> On any given Friday night, you could wander over to Mc Donalds and buy a hamburger, french fries, and a coke all for .58 cents. Then go north to Big Thrifty or south to Little Thrifty and get a triple dip of ice cream for .15 cents! You could always sustitute Taco Treat for a change.

With my heart and mind,

Friday night on a dollar!

As soon as I saw this old thread about a night out on a dollar it made me think a little (which is about all I like to think).  Before I was 16 I could catch the Big Red Car (Pacific Electric) and go from San Marino to Pasadena for a dime.  Double feature movie at the Academy was 35 cents.  Candy bars were at nickle at the theatre concession and a coke was a dime.  If you felt a little rich you could buy a U-NO candy bar and they were a dime.  After the movie, a bakers dozen glazed donuts cost 25 cents at the shop on the corner of Colaradp and Lake.  10 cents to ride the Red Car back home.  Hell, you even had some change left over.  Now, a double at a hotel bar costs 10 bucks.  Back then, when I drove, we could cruise all night on a dollars worth of gas.  That dollar would buy 5 gallons of gas at Powerine Self Service.
