Winchell H Simpson - Class Of 1929

Winchell "Bill" Heath Simpson, 89, former resident of Morrow Bay, died Tuesday, September 4, 2001, at a health care facility in Prescott, Arizona.

Bill was born March 7, 1912, in Pasadena, California to Robert Winchell Simpson and Edith Hall Simpson.  In 1935 he married Evangeline Summer in San Gabriel.  For 45 years he worked as a land surveyor for Mobil Oil Company.  In 1998 he moved to Prescott, Arizona from Morrow Bay where he was a member of St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church.  He was also a past member of the Rotary Club, the Shriners, the Masons, the Paso Robles Trail Riders Association and the Cal Tech Alumni Association.  He loved hiking and reading and enjoyed birds, cribbage, geology, and sports.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Sherry Hibbard of Prescott, AZ; sons, Richard S. Simpson of Redmond, Oregon and Robert P. Simpson of Fresno, California; sister Alice Wolcott of McMinnville, OR; and brother Jack Simpson of Lake Port.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Evangeline in 1995, and his sister, Dorothy Kumali.
