Lee Spencer Sharp

Lee Sharp of Peoria, Illinois, died at age 89 on July 18, 2006 at Rosewood Care Center. Born March 24, 1917 in Los Angeles, California to Homer and Bessie Wendling, he married Gail Aline Kinnison in 1951 in Del Monte, California.  She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Douglas Lee (and Jennifer) Sharp of Franklin, Tennessee; one daughter, Adrienne Aline Sharp of Prescott, Arizona; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lee was a 1938 graduate of Stanford University, and a 1940 graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business.  He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honorary. He was a registered professional engineer in the state of California and a lifetime member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, serving as president of the Los Angeles chapter in 1963.  From 1940 to 1971 he was employed by United States Steel in the Columbia Steel Division, Consolidated Western Steel Division, Columbia-Geneva Division, and American Bridge Division.  From 1971 to 1982 he was employed by Keystone Steel & Wire Co., last serving as Chief Industrial Engineer, Keystone Group. After retirement he was an industrial engineering consultant and a volunteer at his church.
