Ken Stokes, an ordained minister who toured the country discussing with various denominatons how adults manage their faith, died Monday, July 3, 2000, after suffering a heart attack in Bloominton, Minnesota.  He was 71.

Stokes was the executive director of the nonprofit interfaith organization, Adult Faith Resources in Bloomington.  He developed an international reputation for his seminars about faith and its changing role.  During his more-than-40-year career as a minister, Stokes participated in more than 250 adult-faith-development seminars.  In 1988 he directed a national interfaith study for 23 denominations on how people's faith changes as they grow older.

Stokes had taught part time for 16 years at the University of St. Thomas' School of Divinity in St. Paul.  He also wrote a book, "Faith is a Verb," which is in its seventh printing.

Since September, Stokes and his wife had been living at a retirement community for religious professionals in Claremont, California.  They also spent time at their longtime Bloomington home.

Survivors include his wife of of 49 years, Anne; four sons, Alan Stokes of Simi Valley, CA, Randall Stokes of Apple Valley, Bradley Stokes of Minneapolis, and Harlen Stokes of Lakeville.
