Robert Willis Mellentin

Robert W. Mellentin, 75, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on November 23, 2003, in Fort Collins. Robert Willis Mellentin was born September 11, 1928, in Alhambra, California, the son of Frederic William and Janet Gorsuch Mellentin. A former resident of Kankakee, Illinois, he had resided in Fort Collins for 15 years. He graduated from South Pasadena-San Marino High School and received his bachelor's degree in biology at Colorado College in 1951. He married Margery Krafft on March 27, 1951, in Minneapolis.

Robert was a research scientist for General Foods Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1985. His business took his family to Kankakee, Illinois, Battle Creek, Michigan, Weston and Westport, Connecticut, and Brussels, Belgium. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Robert loved traveling, model railroading, woodworking, music and photography. He loved his family and dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Margery, of Fort Collins, and his two daughters, Janet Wagner of Fort Collins and Kathryn O'Leary of Watertown, Connecticut, as well as three grandchildren. His brother, William Mellentin (SPHS '51) of Mendocino, California, also survives.
