James H Knerr - Class Of 1952

James H Knerr

Jim died January 7, 1997.

Jim was Commissioner of Athletics his senior year at South Pas, and an outstanding athlete on the varsity baseball team.  After college and the Marine Corps he played semi-pro for the Boston Red Sox farm team.

Jim was a high school history teacher and coach at Simi Valley High and retired in 1994.  An avid runner, he ran in the L.A. Marathon in 1980 and finished second.  He is survived by his wife Yvonne, two children, and four grandchildren.

Ross Emory Diehl (1952)

      Jim was with the Boston Redsox at third base for a while until some guy named kruzminski???? usurped the position. I ran across him at a party in Simi Valley around 94. He held the marathon record for age 50+.  Later Jim was out running alone and fell from a apparent heart attack and lay out there for several hours before passing away. ONE of the GREAT GUYS. Adios Bud
