Nancy B Blasingham (Cunningham) - Class Of 1934

Nancy B Blasingham (Cunningham)

Nancy Benton Blasingham Cunningham (96) passed away on April 26, 2013, at Villa Gardens, Pasadena. She was born November 14, 1916 in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of the late Henry and Vivian Benton Blasingham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew Cunningham, and her siblings, Walton Blasingham, Otis Blasingham (SPHS '29), and Marion Patten.

Nancy is survived by her son, Steven (Irma) Cunningham, daughter Carla (Peter) McArdle, daughter Patricia (Michael) Ford; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Nancy began a long, successful career in personnel administration in the 1940s at the Broadway Department Store in Pasadena, culminating with her long tenure at the California Institute of Technology in the same field. She loved music and for years was a subscriber to the Pasadena Symphony, the Los Angeles Symphony, and the Hollywood Bowl. When Nancy married Matt Cunningham in 1956, she put her career on hold to become a full-time mother to his three children from a previous marriage, who were 10, six, and two years of age at the time. "Nancy was an angel who took the responsibility of raising three children and did a grand job," says her son Steve Cunningham. "She was the best mom anyone could ever ask for. We will miss her deeply, but know that she has passed from this life into the arms of the Lord."
