Alice James

Alice James, resident of The Admiral by the Lake, Chicago, died on December 10, 2017. She was born April 5, 1919 and grew up near Pasadena, California. She attended the University of California, Berkeley and came to Chicago to study at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration. For many years Alice worked as a social worker in Chicago, rising to serve on several occasions as the Acting Director of Children's Home and Aid Society of Illinois.

She was a long-time board member of the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club and a valued docent at the Oriental Institute. She will be missed by friends and the residents of The Admiral where she was known by many and admired for her cheerfully feisty personality.
