Lorraine 'Laurie' Roberts passed away quietly at home in Carmel on January 20, 2005, after a period of declining health. She was born on January 25, 1921 in St. Paul, Minnesota and moved with her parents to southern California at an early age. 

Before her marriage, Laurie had worked as a supervisor for PG&E and returned later after the birth of her son, Randy, before retiring and moving to Sonoma County.

In June 1951, Laurie and her husband Bill set out on an expedition to Europe and Africa, taking them through 16 countries over a six-month period. Being able to explore many places around the world and climb high mountains was a great love of her life. In 1970 she moved to Del Mesa Carmel and reduced her traveling schedule, spending more time at the Carmel Foundation and enjoying their many activities. 

She is survived by her son, Randy Roberts of Arizona.
