William Franklin "Bill" Wiltrout - Class Of 1954

William (Bill) Wiltrout was born July 14, 1934 in Altadena, California and passed away February 3, 2009 in Yucaipa, California where he lived since 1980. He was 74 years old.

Bill will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. He leaves behind his son Ralph, wife Belinda and granddaughter Samantha of High Ridge, Missouri. His only grandchild was his pride and joy and regretted that the family lived so far away. He also leaves his son, Marty of Pasadena. Bill's brother Warren Wiltrout (SPHS '57) passed away in 1993. His loving nieces, Gabriela and Lisa reside in South Pasadena. After 16 years, he will be greatly missed by Joyce Alvis; who became his caregiver the last few months.

At age 17, after saying he was 18, Bill started auto racing; called Jalopy Racing back then. His first racecar was a model A Ford that he bought for $5.00 and made roll bars for in medal shop at his high school in South Pasadena. He continued auto racing from the early 50's into the 60's. He raced several off road car races, including the Baja 500. Bill's passion and profession was restoration of antique cars. He restored many cars, most for customers and some for himself. He said it was his penitence to restore these cars, after tearing up so many in racing. He was skilled at restoring car body parts and making the cars original or what ever the customer preferred. Bill supported some charitable organizations, the Parkinson Foundation and the Humane Society, as he was an animal lover.
