In Memory

Sandra King (Vander Schaaf) - Class Of 1967

Sandra King Vander Schaaf passed away peacefully in her home with family members by her side on May 7, 2013.  Cause of death was cancer. Sandy was born to the late Claybourne and Helen King on April 20, 1949 in Los Angeles, California.

Sandy was a resident of Whitefish, Montana since 1982.  She worked at Safeway, Food Depot, Whitefish Schools and Northwest Montana Head Start.  Teaching and working with children were her greatest joy.  She was a huge NASCAR fan, loved the water and also enjoyed reading, lawn work, spending time with family and friends, and the loving affection of her pets.

Sandy was preceded in death by her sister, Karen King Schaefer (SPHS '65) and is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughter, Amanda Bircher; two brothers, Chip King '75 and Rocky King '77; three sisters, Linda King '69, Valerie King '71, and Robin King Woods '73; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large, loving group of extended family and friends.  We all will miss her.
