J Scott Crosby

Scott Crosby

December 10, 1942 - February 13, 2023

At age 80, in Accra, Ghana, after several weeks of bad health. Scott is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Jeff) Downing and Susan (Dan) Chambers; brother William Crosby '63; and nine grandchildren.

The first son of SPHS grads Joe Crosby '37 and Jane Aldridge Crosby '37, Scott had fond memories of his days at SPHS, including playing end on Coach Solari's first CIF championship team - beating Mater Dei in the final game in 1959. A graduate of Arizona State University, he married Glenda soon after and went to work in the family business - California Liquid Fertilizer Company.

In the 1960s he enlisted in the Marines. After raising his two daughters, Kim and Sue, he left Calliquid, returned to single life and became a world traveler. He developed an interest in African statues and art, and with partner Donnie Wise, opened an African art gallery in Laguna Beach in the 2000s. Around 2006 the wanderlust spirit returned and Scott returned to Ghana where he met Cassandra who became his friend and companion. Other than trips home to help Jane when she suffered a stroke, and later for her memorial service, he and Cass lived in Southeast Asia, the Philippines, Ecuador, and most recently, again Ghana.

Scott enjoyed reconnecting with his South Pas classmates, albeit remotely at reunions, and has and will continue to be missed by his friends and family.
