Yes , I agree about the girls sports program.  They were non existent.  Pay back time came for me when I got to enjoy watching my daughter play High School Basketball, play in the State Championship (on TV no less!), become an All-State Player, McDonald's All American Nominee and go on to play Division I basketball.  Oh how I loved to watch her play, wishing that I had the same opportunity!

I was so proud of our great women at the Winter Olympics!  Success at that level requires excellent coaching from an early age as well as natural ability.  Strong high school womens' programs are leading to success at the Olympics and in international competition and Title IX has greatly assisted this process by making college athletic scholarship funds available to women. When we graduated from high school there was no "full ride" available to women for athletics.  As a great bonus, many young women have been able to graduate from schools that they could not have afforded to attend without an athletic scholarship.
