Alberta M Bellerue (Sheats)

Alberta Bellerue Sheats, 83, of Poulsbo, Washington, died January 17, 2000, in Port Angeles after a massive stroke. She was born August 29, 1916, in Peace River Crossing, Alberta, Canada to Victor and Beulah Lowen Bellerue. She grew up in Blair, Wisconsin, and in Pasadena, California. She graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1934 and from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1938. She served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946, achieving the rank of lieutenant.

She married Robert Carlton Sheats in 1946, in Arlington, Virginia. He preceded her in death. She taught elementary school in California from 1938 to 1943. From 1963 to 1990, she was a substitute teacher in the North Kitsap School District. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Friends of the Library in Poulsbo. She also volunteered at the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport.

Survivors include two son, Phillip of Pullman, and Carl of Port Angeles; one sister, Mary Bellerue Reynolds (SPHS '36) of California; and four grandchildren.
