Mary Blakeslee (Barrick) - Class Of 1947

Mary Blakeslee (Barrick)

Mary Blakeslee Barrick  '47  passed away on December 13, 2005.  She was born on March 22, 1929 in Pasadena, California.  She leaves behind her beloved husband of 44 years, Robert E. Barrick, and three daughters, Katie, Caroline, and Mary, along with nine grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her brother, a dear friend, Willis C. Blakeslee of San Marino.

Born to Willis and Frederica Blakeslee in Pasadena, CA., Mary was a true California native.  Upon graduating from the University of Arizona in 1951, she lived and worked in San Francisco, Houston, and Los Angeles as a geologist for eleven years.  She and Robert were married in 1961 and soon after moved to Palos Verdes Estates where they resided for the past 43 years.

Mary was actively involved in the local community including various charity organizations such as the Junior League, Girl Scouts, National Charity League, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Spinnakers.  It is with deep sadness that family and friends said goodbye.  Her joyful smile and upbeat spirit helped her form lasting friendships--many from South Pasadena High School.  Her love for family and life will forever be cherished.
