John A Bode - Class Of 1955

John A Bode

John Bode  '55  passed away on January 22, 2007 after a long illness.  He was tested time and again over 29 years with heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 9, 1937, John spent most of his life in San Marino, California and graduated from South Pasadena-San Marino High School in 1955.  An economics major, he graduated from UC Berkeley in 1959, where he was affiliated with Psi Upsilon fraternity.  Following his service in the US Army, John became a successful Industrial Real Estate Broker and developer and was a founding partner of INCO Commercial Brokerage, and was highly regarded by his colleagues in the industry.  He was a long-time member of the San Gabriel Country Club and terribly missed his golf there in the last few months of his illness.  He was also a member of the Valley Club of San Marino.

John is survived by his wife Jennifer; son Scott; daughter Linda; brother Paul; and stepson Stephen.  John was charitable, kind, and courageous.  He will forever be remembered and celebrated as a true gentleman with charm, integrity, and a generous spirit.  Three years ago John submitted to experimental heart devices, prolonging his life as well as paving the way for the benefit of future heart patients all over the world.  He was truly a remarkable man.  Godspeed, John.  Thank you for a fight well-fought and a life well-lived.

Michael M Wagner (1955)

We miss you "El Gordo" aka Bode. You were a great pal through our elementary scool days and of course high school at South Pasadena. I have to admit that you were a pretty good football player for the tigers.

Your Buddy,

Mike Wagner
