Philip J Callahan - Class Of 1968

Philip J Callahan

Phillip James Callahan, our beloved friend who loved, laughed, and lived life to the fullest has peacefully gone home to his Lord.  He was born on October 16, 1949 in Glendale, California.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Margery Bell Callahan.  He graduated from South Pasadena High School and attended Long Beach State University.  He worked for Mitsubishi Electric Sales America and later was self-employed with his own consulting firm.

Phil was a friend to many, proud of his Irish heritage, devoted to Notre Dame, loved traveling, singing, playing his guitar, riding his bike, and the theatre.  He is survived by his sister Eileen Gallagher (SPHS '72) of New York, his cousin David (Carlene) Callahan; and Kelli Rigby-Hyde of Manhattan Beach.

I didn't know Phil well, but his mother, Marge was my archery coach at CSULA, and took us to the #2 spot in the nation in 1976. She was one of the finest teachers I ever had, and I think Phil reflected the high standards his parents set for him. My sympathies to the family...he and his parents all went too soon.

Phil worked in A/V technology as I did, and Phil represented major manufacturers with real class for many years. Phil was my representative for a time and Phil was one of the very good guys out there. He had a great outlook on life and was always a great help in my professional career. Phil made this world a better place, he will always be remembered and sorely missed.
