Helen Mason (Waterhouse) - Class Of 1911

Helen Mason Waterhouse

July 31, 1893 - April 18, 1919

Mrs Helen Mason Waterhouse departed this life at the Pasadena Hospital on Friday evening of last week. Her death came as a distinct shock to her loved ones and a host of admiring friends. She died one day after the birth of her daughter.

Helen was born in Eldon, Iowa and came to the state of California when she was just a child of about 13 years. She was graduated from the local high school in the class of 1911 and continued her education in Occidental College. She was endowed by nature with a musical voice, which was specially trained by a course of study at Oberlin College in Ohio.

On April 20, 1917. She was married to Glenn Waterhouse of Pasadena. Her brief married life was extremely happy and the newly formed home was one which a host of friends considered to be ideal, and Mrs Waterhouse possessed the happy faculty of making all about her radiant with sunshine. She was indeed a congenial spirit, loved by all who knew her, a favor in which she moved. She was a devout, consecrated Christian, who entered the church in early chilhood, and was an active member of the local Presbyterian Church, from which edifice the funeral services were held on Monday afternoon.

Besides her sorrowing husband, she leaves an infant daughter, Helen Mason Waterhouse, also her father and mother, Mr and Mrs H.C. Mason of Windsor Place, South Pasadena, one brother, Albert Mason, and three sisters, Mrs Louise Mason Eichoff (SPHS '11), Mrs J.B. Logan, and Miss Frances Mason (SPHS '22).
