Sterling Matthews

November 9, 1905 - September 26, 1955

Sterling Matthews of San Francisco, son of Mr and Mrs Albert Matthews, 1112 Fair Oaks Avenue, died September 26, at St Luke Hospital. Mr Matthews, who came here on a business trip, was taken ill on Thursday of last week.

A native of Missouri, Mr Matthews spent most of his life in California. He was a graduate of South Pasadena and the University of California. In San Francisco, he was engaged in the real estate business.

Surviving Mr Matthews, besides his parents, are his wife, Mrs Marian Matthews of San Fancisco; a daughter, Mrs Diana Wier, of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs Ruth Matthews Grotewiel '21 and Mrs Evelyn Goodman, both of South Pasadena; and two brothers, Patrick Matthews of San Marino and Gar Matthews '29 of South Pasadena.
