Florence Jones Sparks

July 26, 1909 - June 4, 2005

She did it all. Born in Los Angeles, her father from Indiana, mother from England. She graduated from UCLA in 1931, became an elementary school teacher and married Charles Sparks. She quit teaching to raise two children, Carolyn Etherton and Charlie, and to enjoy grandson Mike Ovarlet, his wife Angee, and great-grandchildren Amanda and Andrew.

When Charles died, Florence continued the family business, the Tasty Shop Restaurant, at Elm and Lancaster Blvd. In the 80s she developed several apartment complexes in Lancaster. For almost 96 years Florence was a rock solid inspiration for those who knew her. Instead of flowers, just raise a toast to one incredible woman.
