Rhoda Anne Williams (Doty)

Rhoda Williams Doty passed away on July 24, 2004 at the age of 87.  She was born in Tucson, Arizona on May 3, 1917.

Rhoda moved with her father, Tenney Davis Williams, mother Rhoda Pickering Williams, and two brothers, Saint John Tenney and Andre, to South Pasadena in 1930.  It was in the Pasadena area that she spent much of the rest of her life, under the San Gabriel Mountains that she loved so dearly.  Rhoda graduated from South Pasadena High School and was accepted at Stanford University, her father's alma mater. 

Rhoda married Walter Hinds Doty of Pasadena in June of 1939.  Rhoda and Walter raised four children; Carol, Susan, Cindy, and John in the Pasadena area which she always called home.  This energetic woman belonged to several clubs and did volunteer work at Huntington Memorial Hospital for many years.  She was one of the original founding members of the "Hasty Hens" Garden Club in Pasadena's Lower Hastings area.  She was a beloved and wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

Rhoda is survived by her brother Andre of Tujunga, and four children, Carol Mehtlan of San Marcos, Sue Wolfe of Cherry Valley, Cindy Grush of Sierra Madre, and John Doty of Santa Monica; 11 grandchildren, Mark and Benjamin Mehtlan, Cynthia Cameron, Raymond, Richard, and Joseph Wolfe, Brenda Bunch, Andy, Geoff, and Aimee Grush and Todd Doty; and eight great-grandchildren.  She was laid to rest next to her father in Tucson.
