Raymond F Parmenter - Class Of 1937

Raymond F Parmenter

Raymond Parmenter passed away July 26, 2004 in Huntington Beach, California, surrounded by his entire family:  his wife of 64 years, Frances Cunningham '39, their three daughters, six grandchildren, spouses and eight great-grandchildren.  Born and raised in South Pasadena, Ray was one of five of his family who graduated from South Pasadena High School.  While there, as a three year Letterman in both baseball and football, he was awarded a Lifetime Pass to all South Pasadena Athletic events, which he carried with him with pride, tucked away in his wallet throughout his life.  South Pasadena retained a very special place in his heart, always returning for Alumni occasions as well as for nostalgic visits.

Attending Upper Iowa University on a baseball scholarhip, he signed and played with the New York Yankees farm team, which was interrupted by World War II.  Serving in his capacities as Management and Consulting for an Aircraft Corp., Columbia Records, and Allied Van Lines, he left South Pasadena and moved to Westchester, California and then to Huntington Beach.  With his love of athletics, he unselfishly coached and managed numerous Little League and Babe Ruth teams for 47 years.  Along with his gift of golf, he touched the lives of many a youth with his natural athletic ability and keen sense of sportsmanship, as well as serving as a role model.  He is truly missed by all who knew and loved his humor and happy warm loving personality.
