Frank Vanderhoof

Frank Vanderhoof  '37  of Pebble Beach, died April 10, 2005, at Canterbury Woods Medical Center, Pacific Grove.  The son of Ralph Scovell Vanderhoof and Ruth Keen Marshall, he was born in Los Angeles, July 19,1919.  He graduated from UCLA in 1941.  Frank and Anne Kemper Wilson were married in New York City on October 14, 1944.

In addition to other degrees, he received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1952.  From 1954 to 1958, Frank was librarian of the large religion and philosphy library at the University of Chicago.  After living in Europe for four years and Austin, Texas for 13 years, he and his wife moved to Pebble Beach in 1977.

Frank was preceded in death by an infant son, a son James in July 2004, and a brother William, last month.  Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anne; his daughter and her husband, Susan and Jack Rife, of Austin; his sons, David and Samuel, of Eldridge; his granddaughters, Zoe Rife Roach and Alexis Rife of Pebble Beach and Justine Rife of Austin; his grandson, Yitzak Rife; his great-granddaughter, Wendye Roach and his brother, Dr. Richard S. Vanderhoof, of Long Beach.
