David R. Hirschler, 82, of Laguna Beach, Arcadia, and South Pasadena, passed away on May 24, 2007. He was born in San Jose in 1924 to Paul and Livia Hirschler. Dave was a graduate of South Pasadena-San Marino High School in 1942. After serving in the Navy during World War II he attended the University of California at Berkeley where he played football and was on the Cal Bears Rose Bowl team in 1949. He was one of "Pappy's Boys" and a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity.

He is survived by his wife Barbara of 32 years, sister Christine Kelly (SPHS '45), daughters Karen Kerr, Katie Jones, Ann Landau, and Molly Walker, step children Eric Davidson, Peter Davids on, Jana Day and Katie Halperin, 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
