Elizabeth 'Betty' Harper (Symons)

Elizabeth Symons, better known as Betty Symons died November 15, 2006.  She had lived in Graeagle, California since 1984.  As Betty Harper, she grew up in South Pasadena and graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1954.  She then graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1958 where she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority.

Betty did her practice teaching and earned her teaching credential at Occidental College.  Her first few years of teaching were in the Pasadena School District.  Betty then returned to the Bay Area, got married and was known there as Betty Wilson while she taught in the Walnut Creek elementary schools for better than 20 years while living in Danville.  Upon retiring, the Wilson's moved to Graeagle where Betty lost her first husband, Jack Wilson to cancer.  She then met and married Dave Symons with whom she enjoyed 15 good years before his untimely death in 2005.

Betty enjoyed boating, camping, and traveling with family and friends.  She attended Graeagle Community Church.  She is survived by her brother, Gordon Harper (SPHS '58); step-daughters Gretchen Lee, Rebecca Lemieux, and Jennifer Meek, along with five step-grandchildren; and nephew Scott Harper and nieces Valerie Cozad, Vanna Robbins, and Verna Richter.
