John Stanley Dicken, 66, died November 22, 2003, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage.  Born in Pasadena, Mr. Dicken lived in Palm Desert four years.  He previously lived in Thermal and LaQuinta 20 years.  He owned Video Stop rental stores in Cathedral City and Indio from 1981 to 1991.

Mr. Dicken was president of the Thermal Chamber of Commerce from 1985 until 1989.  He was elected to the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District in 1986 and re-elected in 1989.  Mr. Dicken resigned a year later.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; three sons, Scott of Corona, Mike of San Diego, and John of Tustin; five grandchildren; a brother, David of Brea; and a sister, Lauretta Owen of Eagle Rock.
