I first knew Don in elementary school. He was always known for his sense of humor and sometimes it got him in trouble. In junior high each of us had to do a notebook on narcotics for science class. You have to understand that at that time South Pasadena was strictly a republican city. If you were a democrat you didn't dare admit it. Don turned in his notebook in with the rest of us. He titled it "DOPE" and on the cover under that title was a picture of President Truman. While we were in hysterics, the teacher was livid.
