'Moon' Mullins Dies; Ex-Nortre Dame Star
Chicago - Laurence A 'Moon' Mullins, 60, who starred at fullback on the 1928-1930 Notre Dame teams coached by Knute Rockne, died Saturday, August 10, 1968. Cause of death was bronchial pneumonia due to metastatic sarcoma to the brain. He was born June 13, 1908 in South Pasadena, California, where he was raised.
Mullins was president of the Athletic Institute of Chicago and commander in the Naval Reserve. He was coach or athletic director of several midwestern or southern colleges and universities, including Kansas, Kansas State, Florida, Loyola of the South, St. Benedicts, St. Ambrose, and Marquette.
He is survived by his wife Mary; six children; 10 grandchildren; one brother and two sisters.
