Marguerite Addoms (Boblit)

Marguerite Addoms Boblit

October 16, 1934 - May 25, 2022

Marguerite was taken from us by lymphoma in Carlsbad, California as the sun was setting over her beloved Pacific Ocean. Pelicans soared, skimming the wave tops. Dolphins surfed, jumped, and squealed in her honor.

Born in Long Beach and raised in South Pasadena, she was the only daughter of John and Josephine and baby sister to Jack (SPHS '43) and Bob (SPHS '49). Her life in South Pas was idyllic, and she thrived in a loving family, with parents and two brothers who adored her. Her love of sports and a very active social life flourished in high school. Meg was a proud South Pas Tiger and grew into a beautiful and deeply spiritual young lady. Her love affair with Colorado began when she attended a Young Life camp there as a teenager, and then chose to attend University of Colorado Boulder upon high school graduation.

Maggie joined the Tri-Delta sorority at CU where she made lifelong friendships with her sorority sisters. Her fun-loving and caring personality were cherished by her new 'family'. She loved music and sang, danced, and laughed her way through college and life; proving irresistible to a shy, young track star from Denver named Richard Boblit. Their college romance led them to the altar in 1955 and they remained happily married for the next 67 years.

Marguerite was now a wife and soon to be a mother, giving birth to Michael while the new family was stationed with the Army in San Antonio, Texas. Christopher and Catherine arrived after moving back to Denver. But Southern California wanted her native daughter back, so the family headed west to San Gabriel, then San Diego. Meg adored her children, and they were raised in a loving, Christian home. She had always tried to live in a manner pleasing to God, and that is how she approached motherhood. She wore many hats:  classroom mom, team mom, car-pool mom, PTA. Meg was also a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and participated in other church committees and positions too numerous to mention. She was a longtime member of PEO International, as well. Meg truly walked the walk, and was loved and admired for it.

She became a grandmother to six, and a great-grandmother to five - the Matriarch of a growing tribe. Marguerite will be remembered for singing and cheering loudly. She loved her CU Buffaloes and San Diego Padres. Meg loved solving crossword puzzles, and was a human 'spell-check'. She loved a glass of wine or a lemontini for Happy Hour(s). She loved to entertain 'the troops' with wit or silliness - whatever worked. She loved to laugh and was able to make others laugh, too! Marguerite was also strong-willed, tough, and determined. But most of all, she had a very big, charitable, and empathetic heart full of love. She was adored by her friends and family, cherished by her husband forever, and leaves a legacy of light and love.
