Beatrice Baumgarten (Scarborough) - Class Of 1941

Beatrice Baumgarten (Scarborough)

Bea Scarborough passed away peacefully on March 28, 2015 after a long life filled with family, friends, love and faith. She touched many lives with her gentle spirit, consideration and appreciation of others, humor and a positive outlook on life.

Bea was born in Los Angeles and graduated from high school in South Pasadena. She studied at San Diego State until love changed the direction of her life. She married Bert Scarborough in 1942 and settled in Berkeley, California where she worked at a local stationery store and as a Nurses Air in the Red Cross. After World War II, Bea and Bert moved to Lafayette where they raised their three children. Bea was very active in the children's school functions, the Boy and Girl Scouts, the Delphian Society, the League of Women Voters and the Lafayette/Orinda Presbyterian Church. Somehow she found time to express her abundant creative gifts by arranging flowers in the Sanctuary, painting on canvas and ceramics, hula dancing, and baking Bert's favorite cookies.

Bea is survived by her three children, David Scarborough, Nancy Marling, and Marjorie Scarborough, their spouses, and four grandchildren, Alan, Nathan, Dean, and Elias.
