Morris Plains, New Jersey:  Attended PCC (one year) and University of California (two years); Engineering and Geology trainee for Union Oil Company and Shell Oil Company 1937 - 1940. US Army February 1941 - December 1945. Married December 1945. Joined map and book publishing company as a writer in August 1946. Retired as Creative Director and member of board May 1979. Two sons.
