Florence Linda Chess (Moriarty)

Linda Chess Moriarty died on July 2, 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico from complications resulting from a stroke. Linda had a very sunny and warm personality and a fighting spirit that she maintained even after her stoke.

Linda was born February 6, 1932 to James and Dorothy Chess in San Marino, California. She was very respectful and loyal to her parents. She followed in her father's footsteps and graduated from the University of New Mexico. Linda pledge the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority where she was recently recognized for being an alumna for 50 years. Linda became a school teacher and taught Language Arts at Wilson and Jackson Middle schools in the 60s and 70s.

As a member of First Presbyterian, Linda had served as an Elder and was currently serving as a Deacon at the time of her death. She was an active volunteer in numerous church projects including, her favorite which was serving as a reading tutor for students at Longfellow Elementary. Linda was an excellent athlete and always stayed fit and trim. Her favorite sport growing up was tennis and in recent years, she had taken up golf. Her weekly regimen for the last 25 years included four days of Jazzercise. Linda also loved animals and always had at least one cat or dog.

Linda is survived by her daughter Leslie Ann and three granddaughters. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Clarity.
