Irma Margaret Cser (Swan) - Class Of 1932

Irma Cser Swan  '32

Mrs. Irma Swan, 93, died March 30, 2008, in Simi Valley, California.

Irma was born September 13, 1914, in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Etlinger) Cser.  Irma married her first husband, Edward Kilius, in 1936 in San Gabriel, California; they had three sons. Edward passed away in 1976 in Camarillo.  Irma married her second husband, Melvin A. Swan, in 1979 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They were together until he passed away March 22, 2002.

Irma was a graduate of University of California Los Angeles with a major in business.  In Oxnard in 1950, she and her first husband, Edward Kilius founded an office machine business.  Irma was also the first school secretary in the Oxnard Elementary School District and a pioneer Cub Scount den mother for Pack 3219.

She was preceded in death by brothers Joseph Cser (1984) and William Cser (1979); sons Edward Kilius (1968) and Robert Kilius (2001); and grandson Darrel Edward Kilius (1996).

Irma is survived by one son, Raymond Kilius and his wife Lynn; granddaughter Maria Kilius; Darrel Kilius's wife, Dr. Kelly Kirpatrick.  She is also survived by a stepson Melvin W. Swan; stepdaughter Marilyn Perkins; five additional stepgrandchildren, Kashia Hathaway, Sondra Lough, Rebecca Perkins, Melisa Johnson, and Andrew Perkins; and eight great-stepgrandchildren.

Irma had a passion for traveling.  She went around the world and on many occasions would take her grandchildren with her.  Irma was a blessing to many and will be truly missed.  In the past six years, Irma was being loved and cared for by Eva Fe Green; to her we are grateful.
