Carol Easley (Denny) - Class Of 1952

Carol Easley Denny died on May 27, 2012 of complications from Alzheimer's disease.  Carol was born in 1934 in Rye, New York and raised in California.  She attended the University of California, Berkeley, and married Charles Denny in 1955.  Following an eighteen month tour of military service in Munich and Stuttgart, Carol and Chuck returned to Minneapolis in 1957.

The following 13 years were hectic and exciting.  Six children were born, of whom only three survived infanthood.  Carol skillfully managed the family moves from Minneapolis to Chicago, Philadelphia, and Paris.  She acquired with ease new schools, doctors, churches, and friends, adapting to the local cultures with grace and sensitivity.  Returning to Minneapolis in 1970, Carol raised her children, participated in the Junior League, and excelled as a tennis player.  But her passion and energy were devoted to her roles as a piano accompanist to the LeagueAires singers and as a Cenacle spiritual director, activities to which she gave much, and from which she received much.

Carol's happiest times were spent on the beaches of the Pacific Ocean, where she often swam beyond the breakers, and her life in Paris, a city and a time that she loved beyond all others.  Carol demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience in surviving a major bout with tuberculosis and breast cancer.  But, Alzheimer's claimed her as a victim in the last twenty years of her life.

Carol is survived by her husband; her sons Michael (Evangeline) and Kevin; her daughter Anne (Steven) her five grandchildren; her sister Nancy Hudgins (SPHS '48); and her brother, David Easley (SPHS '54).
