Virginia Haworth (Morefield) - Class Of 1938

Virginia Haworth (Morefield)

Virginia S. Morefield, 90, of Edmond, Oklahoma, joined her loved ones and her Heavenly Father on April 19, 2011.  She was born October 3, 1920 to Josephine and Burton Haworth in Columbus, Nebraska.

She was the wife of L. William Morefield for over 50 years until his death in 1996.  Bill and Ginny spent 27 years of their marriage serving their country in the U.S. Air Force.  During this service, their adventure took them to England, France, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Alabama, Alaska, and California where they retired.  For the next 40 years, Virginia lived in the San Jose area.

Virginia came to Oklahoma in 2006 to live near her son, Ken, and his family and resided at Touchmark at Coffee Creek in Edmond.  As one of the first residents of Touchmark, she soon became one of two "Friendship Ambassadors" who welcome new residents to Touchmark; she held this position for several years.

Virginia was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Edmond.  Her sister, Doris and brothers Jack (SPHS '43) and Donald preceded her in death.

She leaves behind three sons and their wives, John and Kathy, Ken and Eileen, and Rick and Catrina.  She also leaves 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren in addition to many nieces and nephews and many friends.
