Sheila Hughes Butler of McAllen, Texas died October 28, 2010.  She was born in Los Angeles, California on August 13, 1919 to Seena and Michael J. Hughes.  She was a graduate of South Pasadena-San Marino High School and the University of California at Los Angeles.

She married Felix (Ed) Butler on January 10, 1945 and moved to McAllen in 1947.  Sheila was a sustaining member of the Junior League of McAllen, a member of the the 20th Century Book Club, and a 50-year member of PEO Chapter DS.  She was active in St. John's Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry and as Senior Warden.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ed in October 2000.  She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Butler Dowdy and husband Dan of Amarillo, TX; and two grandsons, Edward Butler Dowdy and wife Gina of Amarillo, TX, and D. Andrew Dowdy, Jr. and wife Brooke of Charlottesville, Virginia.
