Daniel H 'Danny' Jensen - Class Of 1950

Daniel Hiebert Jensen, Jr., 80 of Carlsbad, California passed away January 27, 2011.  He was born January 12, 1931 in Burbank, California.

Dan joined the Air Force in 1951, serving in England and with the 367th Bomber Squadron at McDill Air Force Base in Florida.  He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Michigan.  Dan became a Command Service Module test chief on the Apollo Program.  In 1972, Dan helped develop, build, and test the world's first reusable space ship, the Shuttle Orbiter.  Dan paved the way for America's Shuttle Orbiter Program success over the past 30 years.

Dan enjoyed the fun things in life as well.  He was truly happy playing tennis, skiing, cooking great meals, and spending time with his family and friends.  He constantly sought the best in life, and gave his all to assist others.  He was an amazingly positive person!  In 1984, Dan married Lois Michelizzi and embarked on a journey of friendship and ever enduring love.  Dan and Lois enjoyed traveling abroad.

Dan is survived by his wife, Lois; sister, Erna Regier; son Todd Jensen; daughter, Anne Allen; stepdaughters, Francine, Monica, and Janice Michelizzi; and eight grandchildren.
