Elizabeth Poe (Sullivan)

Elizabeth Poe Sullivan, 85, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on September 21, 2020. She was born on December 6, 1934 in Glendale, California to Frederick and Margaret Poe.

Elizabeth graduated from South Pasadena High School. While visiting her brother, Frederick Poe (SPHS '51), who was serving in the Navy, she met the man she would later marry. Her brother was giving her a tour around the ship when he introduced her to Richard Sullivan who was also serving in the Navy. She and Richard were married and moved to Texas in 1955. Elizabeth was a bookkeeper before she retired. She was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton, Texas where she served as the church librarian and former Sunday school teacher. Elizabeth loved genealogy and would make special trips to visit cemeteries, photographing her ancestor's headstones. She had books upon books tracing the family history. She was an avid reader specifically of Christian fiction books. 

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents; brother Frederick; husband Richard; daughter Bonnie Jean Sullivan and son Glen Sullivan. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Kevin) Burrier of Pleasanton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
