Helenclare Ramsey (Cox)

Helenclare Ramsey Cox died peacefully the evening of August 7, 2016 at the age of 92, with her family at her side. She was born April 2, 1924 in Pasadena and grew up in South Pasadena. She graduated from Occidental College as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She went on to teach parent education classes and became the director of several day care centers. When her son Andy died of AIDS in 1987 she became an active supporter of people with AIDS and mothers of AIDS patients. In 1993 she moved to San Rafael with her husband William Cox where she volunteered for Marin AIDS Project for 15 years.

Helenclare and Bill moved to Aldersly Retirement Community in 2004, where she was active in the Resident's Club, serving as their president for eight years. Helenclare had a gift of relating to people of all ages and walks of life. Helenclare is survived by her daughter Diane Hiatt, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, as well as her three adult step-children and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Bill cox, son Andy Hiatt and daughter Linda Hiatt.
