Alice Robb Macy, aged 89, died peacefully at home on April 16, 2022. She was born August 9, 1932, in Los Angeles to Frances Goodcell and Lyndon Robb. While a student at Stanford University ('54 BS in Journalism), Alice met and married Jim Knowles. They moved to Illinois, where she lived the rest of her life. She is survived by her four children, Susan (Bates), Jim, Charlie, and Nancy; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; and her beloved cats, Maggie and Midnight. Alice is predeceased by her parents, her sister Jean Robb Linn (SPHS '48), and her second husband, Sam Macy.

Alice worked at Family Service Association of Greater Elgin, where she served as Business Manager for 20 years. She tutored ESL students for Literacy Connection several years after retiring. Alice was an active and dedicated member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Elgin for 60 years. She was a world traveler, and loved books, cats and dogs, chocolate, and her family.
