Richmond Maurice Stampley

Richmond M Stampley died August 27, 2013 in Vancouver, Washington of natural causes. He was born August 9, 1921 in Pasadena, California. 

He grew up in southern California and then went to Stanford where he graduated in 1943. He married Cynthia Stiles and they raised twin daughters, Allison and Sheridan. Rich was employed for 25 years with Stauffer Chemical Company. They moved to Orinda, California in the 50s and then in 1972 moved to New Haven, Connecticut to be near company headquarters. Cynthia died in 1979.

In 1982, Rich married Ruth Slevin. They lived for a year and a half in Connecticut and then when Rich retired, they moved to Redding, California where Ruth had lived for 24 years prior to their marriage. During their 25 year marriage, they traveled, played tennis and golf and visited with friends and family. Ruth died in 2007 and Rich lived in Redding until near the end of 2011 when he moved to Vancouver, Washington to be near his two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rich was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Edy; his older brother Robert (SPHS '38), his twin sister Barbara Lee (SPHS '39); his wife Cynthia and his second wife Ruth. He is survived by his daughters Allison (John) Sexson of Brush Prairie, Washington and Sheridan (Lynn) Curtis of Vancouver; as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
