Barbara Summers (Dwiggins)

Barbara Summers Dwiggins, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 19, 2016. Barbara was a resident of Highland, California for over 50 years. Her husband, Thomas Dwiggins, whom she was married for 67 years, preceded her in death in 2006. Barbara was born in Riverside on July 30, 1917, to Harry and Dora Summers. She graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1935, then graduating from the University of Southern California in 1939. Barbara was active in many service organizations on campus at USC and served as Chief Justice of the Women's Student Court in 1938. She was treasurer and president of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at USC. At the time of her death, she had been a 72-year member of the PEO Sisterhood and was a past president of Chapter GH, San Bernardino.

Barbara worked for the California Employment Development Department for 18 years as an Employment Officer in the Redding and San Bernardino offices, retiring in 1975.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Thomas and son Donald Dwigggins. She is survived by:  her daughter Diana (Morris) Allen of Stockton, California; five grandchildren:  Joel Allen, Matthew Allen, Julia Allen Cary, Stacy Dwiggins Berg and Brian Dwiggins; and nine great-grandchildren:  Aubrey, Malachi, Lucy Jean and Joseph Allen; Sarah and Collette Cary; Skylar, Baylor, and Ryland Berg.
