Jean Bergen Tillotson (Burford)

Jean Tillotson Burford passed away Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Mt. San Antonio Gardens in Claremont, California.  Jean was 91 years old at the time of her death.

Jean was born in Redlands, California on May 14, 1918 to Nellie Bergen Tillotson and Felton Tillotson.  She graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1936.  After high school she attended Stanford University where she met Albert Burford and graduated in 1940.  Art and Jean were married on December 6, 1941.  Jean attended Wright McMahon Secretarial School and worked for Lights Inc. while Al was serving his country.  While living in Pasadena all of her married life, she was active in the Assistance League, a past President of the Town Club, a charter member of the Pasadena Law Auxiliary and founded the Auxiliary for the Pasadena Day Nursery.  Jean enjoyed playing both tennis and bridge. 

Jean is survivived by her sister-in-law Elizabeth Stimson and nephew Marshall Stimson, both of Carmel, California, and her niece, Lynn Holz along with Lynn's son Gordy, both of Olympia, Washington.  Jean was predeceased in death by her husband Albert Burford.
