June Waterbury (Mew)

June Waterbury Mew, 84, passed away peacefully in Ventura while in the loving care of hospice on December 7, 2016. Born in Long Beach, California, on June 8, 1932, June grew up in South Pasadena where she attended SPHS, graduating in 1950. She is survived by her husband Tom Mew '48, her three children William Montgomery of Pleasanton, Robert Montgomery of Newbury Park, and Laura (Montgomery) Waag of El Segundo, California; and a sister, Joan Waterbury Mather '46 of Newport Beach. She also leaves half-sister Marsha Waterbury Harrison of Newbury Park, half-brother Rex Waterbury of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and three step-children, 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

June attended UCLA where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and where she met her first husband, Donald Montgomery. She graduated from Cal State LA with a BA degree in Art History. She was an active member in the Junior Circle of Altadena for many years. She attended St Mark's Episcopal Church. She was a long time director of the Pasadena Special Children's Center as well as operating her own tax preparing business.

Since moving to Ventura, June served for eight years as an active docent at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. June loved oil painting, sewing, traveling, and owning many cats throughout her life.
